8th Grade Orientation at the High School

Thank you to all of those who attended and helped with the recent 8th Grade Orientation-especially you Lockerman!

Almost all eighth grade students and their parents were able to attend orientation for high school this past Monday evening.  They were given an overview of courses options, the grading system, projected testing, college credit options, and more.  Mr. Pohl and Mrs. Wendel shared a great deal of high school information and Mr. Buschur, Tri Star Director, highlighted educational opportunities available through Tri Star.  Ten students from the high school also volunteered their time to welcome the upcoming freshman students and to share some lessons learned with the crowd.  Those students included Chrissy Adams, Chelsea Russell, Erika Smith, Madison Barlage, Mitchell Craft, Matthew Dawson, Jacob Swiger, Kira Irick, Sara LaFleur, and Lydia Flynn.  We most certainly welcome next year's freshman class!

Hometown Opportunity

This week Mrs. Wendel invited both Jared Ebbing and Angela Hamberg to speak with seniors about the new website www.hometownopportunity.com. They learned about local key industries and a variety of career opportunities that are available in the local area. The students gave positive feedback about what was shared!

Sophomore Crown Visit

All sophomores were given a tour of Crown Equipment Corporation before the Christmas break.  An overview of the company, as well as job opportunities within the company were discussed.  The education needed for various positions was highlighted, along with student engagement in actually being allowed to operate some lift trucks.  It was very informative for the students and staff.
